Which (non comercial) natural dog food is best? We have tried Cannidae and Cali-Natural?
My dog was adopted in March. She had hot spots/bare patches. She was skin scraped and is mange free…I switched her from Science Diet (EWW) to Canidae. She improved so much, was so soft and hardly shed at all. For the last month, her shedding has increased a lot (again) and she has a few patches back. She was at the vet about 3 weeks ago (no visible patches) but the vet stated she wasnt happy with her coat/skin and told me to switch her food again. So this time we are on California Natural Chicken formula. She is in the process of switching over and is not on it 100% yet. She likes it so far…The vet doesnt want to test her for allergies yet (i dont either) bcz I think we can find a remedy on our own or at least try to. I dont want to put her on prescription medicine. I think my next resort will be wellness fish/sweetpotatoe or even a raw/barf diet… any ideas/suggestions for what to do?! I will ultimately take her back to the vet, but they dont want to test her yet.
she gets cod oil mixed with her food and an immunity booster with water (tasha’s herbs for pets)… she was also on prozyme but the vet told me the supplements dont do THAT much to help?! I am so confused. I did give her some shed defense pills but we ran out and not sure if i should continue those or not. I want to see if the diet alone could help her… All treats are natural (bilJac, old mother hubbard), or human food (very limited to p-nut butter, yogurt, small raw meats, etc.) No commecial treats with fillers..Could she also be having a reaction to her monthly FRONTLINE meds? YIKES! HELP!
Holistic, All-Natural Cat Food Recommendations?
I need to change my cat’s food. I’ve just recently discovered that the food he’s been eating, Science Diet, is probably more harmful than helpful. It’s comforting to know that is what my vet sells in his office…
Does anyone have any all-natural/holistic pet food recommendations? It needs to be a dry food, because he’s used to that, and changing him to canned would not go over well — he’s very picky. I wanted to start him on Halo, but since it’s relatively new, most stores around here only carry canned food. I will wait until they get the dry food in, but just in case — does anyone have any recommendations on a brand that is similar?
Thanks for any shared knowledge. ![]()
UPDATE: I found Halo in Dry Form — it’s been two days and he won’t touch it. I mix less than half of Halo along with his old food. My cat is notorious for being stubborn and picky — I switch back to his old food just so he will eat something — will he ever give this new food a try?
What is the most natural thing to feed a cat/ Best cat food?
I want my kitty to get the food she would in the wild. Obviously I won’t be slaying any mice for her pink princess food bowl but could I feed her chicken etc? What about vegetables/ grass? She loves eating grass when I take her outside. What is the most natural diet for a cat?
Also, what is the best cat food? I feed her science diet.
What's the best holistic all natural dog food?
We recently got a Springer Spaniel, she’s absolutely beautiful and I love her dearly. We want to know what the best food for her is and what will keep her coat nice and shiny. She doesn’t really care for dry food so we’ve been mixing dry and canned. Currently she’s on science diet but my boyfriend thinks there’s much better food for her out there. Any suggestions??
Why is natural dog food better?
I always hear that natural dog food is better than regular dog food. I’ve given my dog Science Diet and Pedigree but I’m thinking of going natural and giving him Blue Buffalo so he’ll be healthier. I think my dog has allergies and I’ve heard natural food can help that. So, why is natural dog food better than regular dog food?
